I am always interested in ways of helping schools to save money, whether through motivated staff or better business practices.  As a result, I was drawn to the article on page 2 of this weeks SecEd on the results of a pilot scheme that concentrated on advanced school business managers (ASBMs) and school business directors (SBDs).

Toby Salt, deputy chief executive of the National College of School Leadership (NCSL), says

School business managers had proved to be effective in attracting new sources for funding…for example, in providing additional support and professional development opportunities”.

“By maximising resources and ensuring schools are effectively run, School Business Managers enable headteachers to bring, dynamic leadership to bear on challenging situations. That can only mean one thing – better attainment and outcomes for more of our young people.”
